Dear God,
I need you to listen to me.
Don’t speak until I empty every thought from my heart.
I need you to hear me.
Don’t judge me until you hear my part.
I need you to comfort me.
Don’t turn me away because I’ve done wrong.
I need you to hold me.
Don’t let go of me and never leave me alone.
I need you to test me.
Don’t assume my faith will not stand.
I need you to love me.
Don’t ever take away your hand.
I just need you…

Real Life Struggles
There was a time in my life when I was in a real life struggle. I knew the direction I wanted my life to take but the obstacles in my life were too great for me to bear alone. I had strayed away from my beliefs and allowed myself to be entangled in the beliefs of others. And then one day I hit rock bottom.
In hindsight, rock bottom is what saved my life. When I was in my darkest place, I began to cry out to God. I had nowhere else to turn. I tried getting help from my peers and no one could help me. I turned to drugs and alcohol, they couldn’t numb my reality. Once I became sober, I was back to square one. Then one day I looked in the mirror and I said, “All you have is you.” And a voice in my head spoke back to me and said, “And God”.
I stood there thinking and wondering if that could be possible. After all I had done–all of my mistakes, did I still have God. And so I cried out, “Dear God”. I made up in my mind on that day, that if I really did have God, my life would be different. And I never once looked back.
Change For The Better
You want to know the reason my life changed? Because I made a decision and because I changed my mind. I began to believe that I could change. I turned to the greatest helper I had ever known. And with His love and guidance, my life changed for the better.
There was no hocus pocus. My circumstances did not change in the blinking of an eye but my mindset did. It took a lot of hard work on my part to change my circumstances. “Faith without works is dead“*–it’s true. I fell down a few times over the years, but with my new mindset, I knew that I could get up again. And you can too.
Your mind is the greatest asset you have. If it is clouded with negative thinking, many of the things you encounter will be negative. There is a proverb that says, “Be careful how you think, your life is shaped by your thoughts”. If you change the way you think, you have the power to change your life. For me, it took focusing on a higher power than my own.
I’m encouraging you today, to change your stinking thinking. Tell yourself that you are great and you can do great things. You can achieve your dreams. You can overcome whatever obstacle you may be facing. Yes, you really can. I believe it for you. Now you believe it for yourself. Be encouraged!
This was such an inspiring post. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you 😊
I believe this wholeheartedly. When you hit rock bottom that’s when you realize who’s really there for you 24 hours a day – 7 days a week to comfort you through whatever you going through. It’s a daily challenge in the world we live in to retrain our brains to put positive thoughts before the negative. But we have to make an effort to do so by leaning on faith every chance we get. That’s why I always say #IRunOnFaith
Amen. I love that. #IRunOnFaith
