Do you have a dream that seems out of reach? How long have you held on to this dream? Have you told others about this dream only to have them question you about when its going to happen? You’re not alone. In fact, many of us are guilty of being dream carriers. The issue with being a dream carrier is that sometimes you stay carrying it way too long.
The purpose of your dream is for it to come to pass. You must get over whatever is preventing you from pursuing your dreams. Sometimes the best solution is simply to just do it. Just go for it. Stop making excuses and start making plans.
Step one is to write the plan. Create a detailed list of the things you will need to bring your dream to fruition. Include a realistic timeline for each step of your plan. Make a budget of the costs involved. You can also create a vision board and post it somewhere you can see it on a regular basis. Here’s an example of My Vision Board.
Once you have the initial plan, next you will focus on conquering the obstacles. Begin by making a list of all of your obstacles. Next write out in detail what it will take to conquer each obstacle. For example, my dream is to be a full-time writer. My obstacles are time and fear. To overcome the time obstacle I include blocks of time dedicated solely to writing in my daily schedule. I’ve trained my family and friends to know that when I say I’m writing it’s the same as if I said I’m at work. Lastly, to overcome the fear factor, I started a blog. 🙂
Once you identify your obstacles and how to overcome them, the next step is to just get it done. Go for it and don’t let anything get in your way. Make sure that everyday you’re checking something off of your dream to do list. Keep chiseling until your dreams manifest. You can do it.
“My life changed the moment I stopped trying to do and actually started doing. I may not have done it right every time, but I kept on doing it until I got it right.” Ms Tee
So true! Love this blog post. I, too am in the process of pursuing my dreams after staying stagnant and honestly being somewhat fearful of change in other ways. But not anymore! I’m moving forward in faith. Thanks for the reminder!
“In faith” That is the key. You can do it. Keep pressing! We got this and He has us. 💪🏾
Love this post! I definitely need to set up a vision board, I think it would be really motivational.

Love this post. very true n practical. i m working towards achieving my dreams. felt good . keep it up.
I love that you included writing a budget as part of the plan. I’m pursuing a goal of writing and publishing my first book. I have a ballpark estimate of the costs but I need to write out a budget. If you’re into writing I suggest checking out Honoree Corder’s books Write like a boss, publish like a boss and market like a boss. It makes it less scary. For style Strunk and white’s elements of style and William Zinnser’s On Writing Well are two books every writer should have. The most important thing is to set out time every day to write and do it, even if it’s just journaling for ten minutes until you feel motivated. Writers don’t wait for inspiration, they do the work of writing through it all. Lastly, edit. Always edit. The best writing comes from several edits. PS If you’re writing, you’re a writer.
Thank you so much for sharing these recommendations. I am going to search for them. And you’re right. I am a writer.
I never thought about writing down a list of obstacles and how to overcome them. I think this will would help me to figure out how to solve the obstacles or ask for help. Thank you for this post!
