It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and somewhere in the world there are some sad people. There are also depressed people, people grieving the loss of loved ones and people upset that life isn’t going the way that they intended. You can find these people almost anywhere. It could be the person you passed by on the way to grab your morning coffee or the lone person sitting at the bus stop. It could also be the quiet coworker sitting in the cubicle beside you or it could be you. No matter who that person may be, as humans, it should be our mission to extend compassion and love to our fellow man.
You can’t always tell who may be fighting some unseen battle inside themselves. Sadness is not always visible and even depression can veil itself behind false smiles. It should not be a hardship to show love to others. It doesn’t cost a thing to be nice. Your smile could be someone’s beacon of light in a dark place. Something as simple as a hello could spark a conversation that could change someone’s mind about what they’re going through. Even a nod can make a person feel less invisible in a world that may seem to be swallowing them up.
If you look around you’ll see that the world is not lacking in its share of mean people. I believe if more people would choose to show love the world could become a better place. The best place to start is with you. During this Christmas season, and throughout the year, make it a goal to share love wherever you go. Love is the key to overcoming the ugliness of the world. Love is the true spirit of Christmas. Let it shine bright in you! **If you or someone you know is experiencing overwhelming crisis or thoughts of self-harm please reach out for help.
