I moved to Delaware from Georgia on faith with a dream. At the time, I had nothing to lose. I had lost my home, I was struggling to make ends meet and my start-up business was failing. When a new friend asked me if I wanted to relocate and start over in a state twelve hours from everything and everyone I knew, I jumped at the chance without question. I believed in my heart that God had a greater plan for my life and just maybe relocating was the start I needed.
My family thought I had lost my mind. Some of my friends thought the same. There were so many false presumptions about why I moved away. No one could really understand the reasoning behind the choice that I made, but I knew. I had a dream and I was determined by any means to make it happen.
Was I scared? Absolutely. I knew no one in Delaware. My friend and I had to learn and adapt to each other’s ways. We had to trust each other with the care of our children while we job searched. We took chances that most people would tell you is dangerous in today’s society. But the one thing we both had in common that gave us peace of mind was our love for God and his Word. We took turns encouraging one another.
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
That was almost ten years ago. Since that time, I have built a thriving business, both my children are college students and I take a vacation every year. My friend is now the program director for a school in Pennsylvania and does independent work as an advocate for children. We both set goals for ourselves and we achieved those things through hard work and determination.
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” ~Norman Vincent Peale
If I did it, so can you. Sometimes we think too much in situations that need an instantaneous decision. Maybe you don’t think you have enough faith but all it takes is a small amount. Transition can be scary. Everyone embraces change differently. However, when you want something bad enough you’ll leap like you have nothing to lose.
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” Ephesians 3:20
This is gold. Doing what your heart tells you to do without support is one brave move. Stay shining love
Thank you so much!
